Making it work

Working with your your wardrobe often takes a bit of time and thought, but it is well worth it!  I’m a firm believer in closet clean-outs, but I also think that you can make unworkable pieces work if you just think about them a bit differently.

I love this sleeveless BCBG dress and bought it for a great deal from Macy’s, however the armholes are a bit big for me.  Eventually, I’ll take the dress to the seamstress to be fixed, but in the meantime I’m able to “make it work” and find that I can wear it best by layering a cardigan over it (and today â€" a vest as well!).

This brown sweater is actually quite small for me (I’m convinced it shrunk…).  I can still button it, and it probably looks okay, but it’s just not comfortable that way so I don’t typically wear it like a regular buttoned up cardigan.  To “make it work” I keep it semi-closed with my dress belt, but otherwise leave it unbuttoned.  Wha-la! My stomach can breath  :)

Lastly, my new ruffle booties fall into the “making it work” category not because something is wrong with them, but simply because they were not initially the purple booties I was craving.  I actually found 2 pair of purple booties that I absolutely adored, but both pair were over $100…  Since I’ve recently made some larger home purchases and since it’s nearing the holiday shopping time â€" I  just couldn’t justify the spend.  Low and behold, I found these purple puppies for $35 @ DSW!!!  They are almost as fabulous as the others I had fallen in love with, and are much easier on my pocketbook.  Now there’s making it work!
