In Need of Mending

White Ruffle Top: INC. Plaid Pencil Skirt: Love Tease. Red Peep Toes: Nine West. Belt: Thrifted.

This waist on this skirt is way too big for me. I love the skirt color and pattern, but it is utterly impossible to wear it without a top to cover the waist because it is so big and "gappy". When I bought it, I knew it was a touch too big, however - it is seriously too big at this point. Arg! Tomorrow I go to the seamstress!

Dark and Sexy Knits at Mark Fast

Mark Fast's Fall 2009 collection showcased some almost unfinished dresses that are very interesting. I really like how they used nude heels with black dresses. It makes the idea of knitted dresses much more modern. Another unique technique used in this collection is knitting garments with velvet. NOTE: See the Mark Fast website link on the right side bar.

Luella's Lucky Londoners

For those within a wedge-heeled walk of Bond Street, don't miss this Thursday's Luella sample sale. With 60-90% off current and vintage lined on catwalk, ready-to-wear and accessories, it is what it is - a steal. If you fail to turn up, consider it a crime against fashion. Talk about getting things handed to you. Jeez! (cue: grumbles bitterly to herself all the while claiming she never liked that lovely Luella anyway!)

Turtlehead Tees

Slogan tees - a divisive fashion point at best. 'RELAX' like Frankie and you're an ironice hipster; emblazon 'Northsiders do it better' on your chest and you're a life-size prat. Luckily, Turtlehead.ie - a Dublin-based t-shirt/art collective - has come up with snazzier tag lines to save you from impending social suicide. 'I Hate Bread' is angsty yet coeliac-friendly; while 'Old is the New New' could score you serious post-modernist points. 'Same Circus...Different Clowns' is my personal fave. I wonder if that's what Britney says after each tour date?

BB Dakota Giveaway

If you're looking for a fabulous new summer dress, I've got great news for you. I've teamed up with Chick Downtown once again for another exciting contest. One lucky Fashion Trend Guide reader will win this BB Dakota dress from Chick Downtown.

Photobucket

BB Dakota has been one of my favorite labels for a while now. They entered the fashion scene in 2005. Glorida Brandes, founder of BB Dakota, adds her French flair to the clothes, and her goal is to offer BB Dakota girls big fashion at small prices. Check out their site for more BB Dakota clothing and women's dresses. My favorite is this floral number, ideal for summer weddings, barbeques, and parties. One of you will be the proud new owner of this gorgeous frock!

You can keep up with the web savvy folks at Chick Downtown by checking them out on Twitter and on their Facebook Fan page.

Want to win? All you have to do is leave a comment on this post or email me (with BB Dakota in the subject line) telling me how and where you'd wear this dress. (For example, "I'd wear it to my cousin's 18th birthday party with a straw boater hat, platform pumps, sparkly gemstone rings, and a sequin cardigan.")

Now for the contest rules: open to U.S. readers only, one entry per person, and the contest ends on Tuesday, July 7 at 9pm PST. The winner will be announed on Wednesday, July 8. Good luck and thanks for participating!

Car Boot Sale @ The Shaw

Me and my bargain-hunting. As if I needed an excuse to go shopping, now I can defend it with the excuse that I got at a car boot sale. Yes indeedy, the George Bernard Shaw Toe Jam car boot sale descended on Dublin for a sunsoaked day of fashion, falafels and general good vibes. I managed to bag myself a €10 sequin dress which I'm still on the fence about. On one hand it was a steal as it is fully-embellished and in top nick; on the other hand I could easily be mistaken as a wayward Dallas extra or ice-skating champion circa 1982. Katerina Witt perhaps? Check out the pics for a goo at the guna.

"Cropped Wrap Jacket" - unique wrapped effect accomplished by wrapping the floor length front around the body. You cannot duplicate this look with your regular jackets. (only available in XS).

All of these items are on sale. The sale ends in one day, and eight hours. Register and join Billion Dollar Babes today.

The Cellulite Challenge - Parts 7 & 8

It's hard to believe I'm on the last stretch of my miracle cellulite treatment regime. Only four more sessions to go until I emerge as Heidi Klum's doppelganger! Since starting the Meditech challenge 2.5 weeks agao, the DTs have ended, my skin is flawless and I've melted almost 20 cms from my thighs; the cellulite isn't bad either! That's is the beauty of it. I went in to blast those dimple marks and in turn received complimentary body sculpting and a new diet to look forward to. All that wheat and caffeine was causing me to drag my ass like a prehistoric sloth. Now? Perky. So very perky. Loving it!

PS - last two sessions saw another 4.5 cm lost. Sweet.

Free Personal Stylist: Covet.com

Having a personal stylist would make our lives so much more easier in the morning...don't cha think? Well, over at FabSugar I was introduced to a new website called Covet.com. Have you heard of it? It's actually pretty cool. The way it works is you first chose from a series of photos of different outfits worn by celebrities. Once it determines your style you pick your shoe size, dress size...etc. Then they email you shopping suggestions based on your style. They also tell you, which celebrity style you resemble most. I just tried it and it described my style as eclectic. What's yours?

Mesmerized By Motel

An intense online browsing session for floral dresses at Asos last week led me to a U.K. brand I'd never heard of called Motel. Heavy on bold florals and flirty frocks, it was just what I was craving for my summer wardrobe. I knew I'd hit the online shopping jackpot, especially when I saw that they delivered to the U.S. My new vintage-inspired 'Kate' dress perfectly satisfies everything I want in a summer dress - it's lightweight, has a fun print, features a voluminous tulip skirt silhouette, and most importantly, has two pockets. Even the hang tag surprised me, as it stated that the dress was hand painted using special techniques in Bali (something I wasn't expecting). I also have leggings in the same print, that's how much I love the blue, green, and lavender color combination.

On a personal note, the more I scrutinize these photos and see how light my skin is (and that my diligent use of sunblock every day must be working), the more I feel like adopting the theme "pale is the new tan." A visit to the dermatologist yesterday affirmed my dislike for the sun's damaging UVA and UVB rays and aging effects, so I guess the only tan I'll ever be sporting will be a faux one.
